GYSTC @ South Georgia - Program Coordinator (Full-time Position)

Located at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Tifton

Start Date: June 2022

This full-time position shall be the principal operations manager of the Central Georgia Youth Science & Technology Center at South Georgia. He/she shall report to the State GYSTC Executive Director as well as an ABAC official selected by the President. This individual shall oversee all operations of the program and deliver professional development in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects for kindergarten-eighth grade teachers in south central Georgia as directed by the State Executive Director to include the counties of Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Colquitt, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Tift, Turner and Valdosta City County School Districts, as well as other surrounding areas as interest is expressed. In addition, this individual will provide hands-on and inquiry-based activities for students. These activities include virtual and traditional in-class field trips. The coordinator will also have responsibility for reporting all programming to the State Headquarters of GYSTC.

Minimum Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree required in a related field. Five years’ experience in teaching science or math at the elementary or middle school level. Experience is highly desirable or a demonstrated ability to teach and develop science, technology, or mathematics curriculum. Applicant must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The ability to function virtually independently and to initiate, manage and evaluate a variety of programs and activities is required. Strong administrative skills, experience in financial management, budgeting, grant writing and fundraising preferred. Evening work and travel will be required for this position.
