Gordon GYSTC Regional Coordinator

This full-time benefited position shall be the principal executive and operations manager of the Gordon Georgia Youth Science & Technology Center at Gordon State College.  He/she shall report to the State GYSTC Executive Director as well as the VP of Community Education at Gordon State College. This individual shall oversee all operations of the center and deliver professional development in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects for kindergarten-eight grade levels teachers in Lamar, Thomaston-Upson, Monroe, Butts, Pike, Jones,Crawford, Twiggs, Houston, Bibb and Peach County School Districts Region. In addition, this individual will provide hands-on and inquiry-based activities for students. These activities include in-class field trips, afterschool programs, camps, Saturday Science and Family STEM Nights/Days events.  The coordinator will also have responsibility for reporting all programming to the State Headquarters of GYSTC.

Minimum Qualifications – five years experience in teaching science or math at the elementary or middle school level. Experience is highly desirable or a demonstrated ability to teach and develop science, technology or mathematics curriculum. Applicant must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The ability to function virtually independently and to initiate, manage and evaluate a variety of programs and activities is required. Strong administrative skills, experience in financial management, budgeting, grant writing and fundraising preferred. Evening work and travel will be required for this position.

Salary: $55,000

GYSTC Coordinator of Program and Resource Registration

Central GYSTC Part-Time Regional Coordinator

In partnership with Mercer University's Macon campus, Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center, Inc. (GYSTC) will host the Central Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center.  The Center’s function will be to provide professional development in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects for K-8 grade teachers in southeast Georgia to include the counties of Atkinson, Bacon, Bleckley, Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Dodge, Laurens, Montgomery, Pierce, Pulaski, Telfair, Treutlen, Twiggs, Ware, Wheeler, and Wilcox.

To launch the Central GYSTC Center, a part-time Center Regional Coordinator is now being sought. This part-time position, that will become a full-time position as Center activities increase, shall oversee the operations of the Center and deliver professional development. The director shall report to the State GYSTC Executive Director and the Tift College of Education Dean. Required qualifications for the position include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in education or a related field along with five years of experience in teaching science, mathematics, or technology education at the elementary or middle school level.
