Science Today (Grades K-5)
These SCIENCE TODAY classes will provide a standards-based lesson which will allow students to develop an understanding of the content and do a hands-on experiment. Consumable supplies will be provided for all students. The cost for an entire class is based upon class size. Cost for each student is $5.

Marvelous Magnets (S1P2)
In this lesson, students will develop their understanding about the effects of magnets on everyday objects. Students will conduct an investigation to broaden their knowledge of what is and isn’t attracted to a magnet. The STEM career of physicist will also be introduced.

Pollination: What’s All the Buzz? (S2L1)
In this lesson, students will learn about the life cycle of the honeybee and why they are crucial for pollination. Students will create a model of the honeybee life cycle and simulate pollination with their classmates. The STEM career of entomologist will also be introduced.

Hiding in Plain Sight (S3L1)
In this lesson, students will investigate how camouflage can help an organism survive in its environment. Students will simulate how animals blend into their environment and avoid being “eaten.” The STEM career of wildlife biologist will also be introduced.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! (S4P2)
In this lesson, students will investigate how sound is produced and changed. Students will construct a model ear and learn how different materials transmit sound. The STEM career of acoustics engineer will also be introduced.

Physical or Chemical Change Putty (S5P1)
In this lesson, students will investigate whether mixing dry and liquid materials caused a physical or chemical change based on observable evidence. The STEM career of polymer scientist will also be introduced.
