At its September meeting, the Board of Georgia Youth Science Technology Center (GYSTC) elected Jennifer-Harper Taylor as a member the organization’s governing board.  Ms. Harper-Taylor is a long time official with Siemen’s Foundation having held many positions there since 1999 including serving as Vice-President, then President from 2010 to 2015.  Currently, she leads numerous educational outreach efforts focused on enhancement of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for teachers and schools on a national scale. Her efforts have contributed toward Siemen’s Foundation’s philanthropic support in excess of 100 million dollars since 1998 directed toward these populations.

Ms. Harper-Taylor’s wide experience as an advocate for increased exposure and training for teachers and youngsters in STEM fields aligns perfectly with the GYSTC mission.  GYSTC, since 1989, has offered a variety of innovative teacher support and student learning opportunities in STEM to Georgia communities statewide, especially in rural and under-served communities of greatest need.  The 18-member GYSTC board, now led by recently elected board president Don Barbour, also a veteran of Siemen’s Foundation, is dedicated to providing leadership and resources to further the goal of preparing a STEM-qualified workforce to fuel Georgia industries and boost the state’s economy to ensure its place as a future national leader in science and technology.
